Your heart needs just the right pressure to move blood around your body. If that pressure stays high, it’s called high blood pressure or hypertension. Most of the time it shows no signs, so many people don’t know they have it. Checking your pressure often helps catch it early.
A health survey from 2014‑15 showed that about 28 out of 100 people aged 15‑84 had hypertension. Nearly half of those people didn’t know they had it before the survey.
